Hey,
My name is Hanna, and I’m an author of Gothic horror, science fiction, fairy tales and microfiction.
My debut novel, Oceanus, is a science fiction novel based on William Shakespeare’s The Tempest. My second novel, The Spider, is a Gothic Horror mystery set in Victorian Liverpool. It is the first book of the Muldoon Mysteries series of occult detective books.
My interest in stories has been with me all my life, and I think it’s nothing short of magical that stories still inspire me even after all these years. The authors who have inspired me the most are Daphne Du Maurier, Shirley Jackson, Wilkie Collins and Arthur Conan Doyle.
I have three kids, an awesome husband who encouraged me to do this and a dog who didn’t but she’s happy to see me trying to put food on the floor.
I attended Liverpool Hope University in 2008 where I achieved a BA and then an MA in English Literature. I was an English teacher for nearly a decade before embarking on my writing career. I’m particularly interested in the Victorians and how significant Liverpool once was as a global port. I base my Gothic Horror around the city and its variety of residents.
I currently live in Liverpool with my family. I grew up in Liverpool, and my home city and all of its history continues to fill me with ideas for my books. If you’d like to keep up with the latest news and read some free short stories, I have a newsletter on Substack!
