Eager to prove himself detective material, Constable Lacey investigates the disappearance of a local thief. Enquiries soon lead him to the new circus in town, where he meets the mysterious ringmaster Ezra Fontini and his devoted performers. Dazzled by the magical world of the circus, Lacey becomes infatuated with one of Fontini’s charming young aerialists, Ellen French.
The show is welcomed by the locals until Fontini’s headline performer is found dead. Overwhelmed with witness accounts that can’t be explained by logic, the police call on Inspector Daniel Muldoon to find out what’s keeping people from leaving their homes after dark.

About the author
Hanna Delaney was born in Aintree, Liverpool, UK. The eldest daughter of an Irish Catholic family, she attended St Julies Catholic High School in Woolton. After leaving school, Hanna studied Drama and English Literature at Liverpool Hope University, gaining a BA Hons in English Literature and a Masters Degree in Popular Literatures. She worked as an English teacher for 8 years before going into self-employment, eventually discovering her love for writing fiction in 2024.
Her first novel, Oceanus, was published in September 2024.
Hanna currently lives in Liverpool with her husband and three children. She was inspired to write the Muldoon series by her love of Gothic Horror and Victorian Mystery novels, as well as the work of Mike Flanaghan.
